Jazz and Virginia Wine: A Perfect Pairing

There’s something magical about Virginia wine country, especially in the late Summer / early Fall. And this year, I’m thrilled to bring that magic to life as the host of the 4th Annual Mad Jazz & Wine Festival at Prince Michel Winery & Vineyard on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

As I am preparing for this exciting Virginia wine and jazz festival, I’ve been sipping my way through some of Prince Michel's most delightful summer wines, and their Rapidan River collection is stealing the spotlight.

These fruit-forward wines are bright, refreshing, and super fun, especially when paired with jazz grooves among the vines.

Sip & Sway: Rapidan River Wines meet Smooth Jazz at Virginia wine and jazz festival

The Rapidan River line features playful, fruit-inspired wines that are made for easy sipping. Think Peach, Raspberry, Blueberry, and Cherry, each bursting with flavor and perfect for a warm Virginia afternoon.

These wines pair beautifully with jazz music. Why? Because jazz, like these wines, is layered, expressive, and full of surprises. A glass of chilled Peach Rapidan while listening to a sultry saxophone solo? Yes, please. Or how about a Raspberry wine spritzer while tapping your toes to a swinging brass section?

Sangria Spritzers for the Win 🍑🍷🍒

Inspired by the fruit-forward notes of the Rapidan River wines, I’ve been creating a few sangria spritzer recipes of my own. These are perfect for backyard gatherings or picnics before the show. These blends are light, bubbly, and easy to customize with fresh fruit, herbs, and a splash of sparkling water, citrus soda and of course a Brut sparkling wine to top it off.

My current go-to? Peach Rapidan Sangria Spritzer

• 1 part Peach Rapidan wine

• 1 part Liquid Death sparkling water – Squeezed to Death (yum on it’s own!)

• Fresh peaches cut into chunks

• Top it off with a very dry sparkling wine Brut (this will mellow out the sweetness)

• Serve over ice and let the good times pour!
